I've been working with AI since the 1980s at IBM — back when it was expert systems and neural nets that couldn't scale. I started as a software engineer and know first-hand how tedious it is to build and maintain code manually. Over 40 years I moved into leading technology organizations — managing teams, budgets, and enterprise infrastructure. I understood deeply what needed to be built and how painful and costly it was to build it.
In December 2025, AI finally caught up. Claude Code changed the equation. In my first 10 weeks, I built 9 applications and 43,000 lines of production code — not by writing code full-time, but by directing Claude in focused sessions between meetings, conference calls, and life. I'd describe what I needed, kick off a build, and come back to working software. The portfolio keeps growing. The traditional estimate for just that initial sprint: 2–3 specialists, 17 months, $250,000+.
